We are seeking members to volunteer as judges for the National Scratch Competition 2018.
What is Scratch?
The National Scratch Competition, run by the Irish Computer Society and sponsored by Lero (The Irish Software Research Centre), aims to raise student’s interest in software development and related career opportunities, by providing a better understanding of how software is built and works.
Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy and fun for students to create their own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art.
What does judging involve?
With the increasing number of students participating around the country, entries to the National Competition in April are at a record high. Therefore, judges will be reviewing projects such as Games and Animations for all age categories.
Judging will take place remotely between the weeks of 5th – 20 March and volunteers will be required to judge 15 entries picking the top three. The chosen entries will then go on to the National Final taking place at the University of Limerick on 25 of April 2017.
