Research or study in the U.S.: Fulbright Awards now open for applications

The Fulbright Irish Awards provide grants for Irish citizens, and E.U. citizens resident in Ireland for at least three years, to research, study or lecture in the U.S. The application period is open until 6 November 2018.

This year there is a new grant available for those who want to do research in the technology field: a new TechImpact Scholar award.

Fulbright Irish Student Awards

These awards give grants in any subject to complete postgraduate research or study for 4 months to a year in the U.S.

Applicants can do a full PhD or Masters or a portion of an Irish postgraduate degree.

Fulbright Irish Scholar Awards

These awards give grants in any discipline to complete postdoctoral or professional research or lecturing in the U.S. These awards are open to scholars and non-academics with 5+ years of experience in their field. The grant is available for research or lecturing from 3 months to a year.

Fulbright Irish TechImpact Awards

These awards are granted to complete postdoctoral or professional non-commercial based research on the impact and application of ICT across all disciplines. The research can be between 2 weeks and 3 months. Preference is given to candidates who have received their PhD since 2014.

There is also a Cybersecurity award, and this is given for a period of research between 2 and 3 months.

To apply for one of the above awards, or another of the many grants available from Fulbright, visit to check your eligibility.

You will then need to complete the enquiry form for entry guidelines. You can apply for an award with your CV, written statements, references and transcripts.

The application deadline is 16:00 on Tuesday 6 November 2018.
