ICS IT Professionalism Course Continues to Expand on a National Level

The Irish Computer Society is continuing to encourage the spread of Information Technology in Ireland with the IT Professionalism Course for young IT professionals. Over the past year ICS have travelled the country, making presenting in Universities, Colleges and Institutes of technology around Ireland to promote key IT Professionalism issues such as; ethics, competencies, and protecting stakeholders.

Bardahl Racing win ‘Young IT Person of the Year’ at ICT Excellence Awards last night

Four top-class students from St. David’s Secondary School Greystones, Co. Wicklow were named the ‘Young IT Person of the Year’ at the ICT Excellence Awards last night, Ireland’s most prestigious awards programme for the ICT sector.  The award was presented by Stuart Dommett from Intel, in recognition of their outstanding achievement in the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge 2013, powered in Ireland by the Irish Computer Society.

ICS Skills welcome the global launch of New ECDL

ICS Skills the national licensee of ECDL in Ireland have welcomed the official launch of New ECDL at the ECDL Foundation Forum 2013 in London this morning to over 55 representative countries from around the world.  The official launch of New ECDL will see the revised version of ECDL which introduces greater choice and flexibility being rolled out globally over the coming months.

Top students from Wicklow shortlisted for ICT Excellence Award

Special screening of ‘Welcome to the Machine’ to be shown during eHealth Week 2013

The Lighthouse Cinema Smithfield, Dublin will hold a special screening and panel discussion of the independently made documentary ‘Welcome to the Machine’ on Tuesday 14th May. The film looks at the nature of the relationship between technology and humans and is being screened to coincide with eHealth Week 2013.

Bardahl Racing to Represent Ireland in F1 in Schools™ Technology Challenge World Championships

Bardahl Racing from St David’s Secondary School, Greystones, Co Wickow were declared the overall winners of the 2013 F1 in Schools Technology Challenge, powered in Ireland by the Irish Computer Society at the National Finals held in Griffith College Dublin yesterday.
