To become a Chartered IT Professional (CITP), you must meet a number of important criteria. Criteria for the award of CITP includes demonstration of: Education and Experience You must have 8-10 years of IT work experience; this can be reduced depending on your academic qualifications, but must be a minimum of 5 years. At least 3 of the past 5 years must have been spent in IT roles carrying significant responsibility, full accountability and presenting a challenging range of complex work activities. You also need to be able to demonstrate personal influence and well developed business skills, which will be covered in your Applicant SFIA statement. The assessment process will determine whether or not you are working at a level equivalent to SFIA Level 5 and your supporters must be able to validate your experience and competence for the same period.
Breadth of Knowledge You can demonstrate a deep knowledge of and competence at a specialist level in one or more specified areas of IT. The definitions of competence used as the basis for the assessment are those described in SFIAplus. You need to be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge and awareness of IT and the application of IT by passing a Breadth of Knowledge test (a 75 question multiple choice test on IT and its application).
