European e-Skills Week highlights the growing demand for skilled ICT users and professionals to drive a competitive and innovative Europe. 

ICS Skills, the skills and certification body of the Irish Computer Society , has been chosen as a partner in European e-Skills Week, which highlights the growing demand for skilled ICT users and professionals to drive a competitive and innovative Europe.  This exciting campaign seeks to inform students, young professionals and SMEs about the vast range of opportunities that ICT –related jobs present.   ICS Skills will be bringing a focus on digital literacy and the importance of careers in IT to the e-Skills Week.

Throughout the coming months, public authorities, ICT companies, education institutions and students will engage in hundreds of activities, training events, competitions and much more.  The awareness campaign will culminate in a dedicated European e-Skills Week from 1 to 5 March 2010.

ICS Skills will schedule some events specifically to mark e-Skills Week , among them a series of "Taste and See" presentations where people can learn an IT skill over lunch and sign up for further learning, a new competition on the ChooseIT website and a customised presentation for our school visits promoting careers in IT.

This ground breaking initiative of the European Commission’s DG Enterprise and Industry is coordinated by DIGITALEUROPE and European Schoolnet in conjunction with twenty national partners.
