This Friday March 5th, Jim Friars, CEO ICS Skills and Mary Cleary, Professional Development Manager, ICS Skills have been invited by FIT (Fastrack to IT) to take part in the e-Skills for Lifelong Learning Event. ICS Skills has been involved in the promotion of e-Skills and digital literacy in Ireland since the launch of the highly successful ECDL (European computer Driving Licence) programme in Ireland in 1997. More than 500,000 Irish people have taken part in this programme.

Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre and the Irish Computer Society have launched a transition year module in software development, utilising a program called Scratch for a fun and interesting way to introduce software development to your class of students. Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy for students to create their own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share their creations on the web.
