By joining the Irish Computer Society you become a member of the national body representing Information and Communication Technology professionals in Ireland. We are the only organisation that is independent of IT suppliers and supports IT practitioners across all fields and industries.

Membership Grades

The ICS provides internationally recognised accreditation for your qualifications and experience in ICT. Suitably qualified and/or experienced professionals can join as Members or Associate Members of the Society and use the appropriate post-nominal letters (MICS or AMICS) to indicate their accreditation.

Students on a relevant 3rd level course may join as Student Members at no cost. On graduating they automatically qualify for Associate membership.

Individuals with a keen interest in ICT, or who expect to qualify for professional membership at a later date, may join as Affiliate Members.

Recognising a significant contribution to the ICT profession, the designation Fellow (FICS) is restricted to the most experienced and highly regarded existing members who have made a significant contribution to the profession or the ICS.

Annual Subscription Fees

On application all new members (excluding students) pay a standard subscription fee of ‚€100 plus application fee of €30. In the second and subsequent years the subscription fee is dependant on the member's grade e.g. Associate, Member etc.

Upgrades

Once you have completed the online application form and paid your fees you may apply for acceptance as a Professional Member of the Society.
Applications for professional recognition, and the right to use the post-nominal letters, MICS, must be accompanied by details of two referees familiar with the work and/or qualifications of the applicant. Ideally these should be a current or previous employer, or a current member of the society. You will be sent upgrade instructions with your welcome email.
